Christmas is Cancelled – The Long Blondes
The Long Blondes formed in Sheffield, United Kingdom in 2003. Things were going really well for them until 2008 when songwriter and lead guitarist Dorian Cox suffered a massive stroke. He was 27, that weird age when a lot of musicians have passed on. Brian Jones, Jimi Hendricks, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse to name a few.
Fortunately Dorian didn’t join the 27 Club, but he did have huge health problems. He was in the hospital for seven weeks, the first two in intensive care. He couldn’t speak for several weeks. Two months in a rehabilitation center specializing in patients with brain injuries. And unable to use his left hand.
Ok, that’s a bit of a downer.
“Christmas is Cancelled” is a great Christmas song. It was given out for free to family and friends of the Long Blondes. I hope you like it.
