The NJACT NJ Perry Awards

The good people at Maurer Productions OnStage have informed me that their production of Around the World in 80 Days has garnered seven eight Perry Awards nominations. Whoo hoo!

Of course when they told me about the nominations I had never heard of the NJACT NJ Perry Awards. Turns out it’s a pretty big deal. The Perry Awards are given for outstanding achievements in New Jersey Community Theater.

The awards are a wing of The New Jersey Association of Community Theaters (NJACT),  an organization dedicated to supporting local theater around the great state of New Jersey.

More than 200 productions around NJ are reviewed each year for the awards.

Who knew? I wish they had this around when I was starting out in community theatre in NJ.

Congratulations to everyone at Maurer Productions OnStage for all of the nominations.

And I have to give a shoutout to the Pennington Players who received 5 nominations for their production of The Diary of Anne Frank (not one of my plays).  I first started acting with the Pennington Players and when I graduated high school, I received a scholarship in their name. Congratulations on the Perry Awards nominations.

Who am I pulling for? Well I love both companies for different reasons but — well — Maurer Productions did do one of my shows. Cough, cough.
