Dramatic Publishing

I’m excited to announce that one of my publishers, Dramatic Publishing, is going to publish my play Tom Jones. Woot. It joins Around the World in 80 Days and The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge at Dramatic Publishing.

I’ve had a long relationship with Dramatic Publishing. They were going to publish my first play The Little Prince but then the rights changed hands and I was forbidden by the new rights holder to have my version published or produced. Not that I’m bitter or anything.

Dramatic Publishing also loved my play Poe -Deep Into That Darkness Peering, co-written with Mark Rector, but in the final stages the decided a one-man show wasn’t going to be a big seller. And I agreed with them. One-man shows are hard to sell but theatres should still produce it! Dramatic Publishing said they loved my writing and wanted to see more scripts. Around the World in 80 Days followed as did The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge. Tom Jones is the by-product of the musical version DP commissioned me to write.

Tom Jones - Faint

Tom Jones had its World Premiere at the Florida Studio Theatre this past spring and got fantastic reviews. The show was directed by my friend Mark Shanahan and he did a kick ass job with it. We had a wonderful cast: Matthew Goodrich, Faith Sandberg, Bruce Warren, Howard Kaye, Ron Seibert, Eileen Ward, Lisa McMillan, Graciany Miranda and Wilmari Myburgh. The beautiful costumes were designed by Jeni Schaefer (who, by the by, has also designed Around the World in 80 Days), the magnificent set was designed Bob Phillips (who, by the by, has designed Around the World in 80 Days numerous times), and the brilliant lights (see what I did there?) were designed by Dave Upton (who, by the by, has never designed Around the World in 80 Days. One of these things is not like the others).

Thanks to Florida Studio Theatre, Mark Shanahan, all of the designers, the cast and a big thank you to Dramatic Publishing.
